Lazy Blogger

I have no excuse... I haven't posted in quite a while.  I did take some vacation time, which I NEVER do, so that might account for my lack of posts.  I have also been really busy at work, so there you go there... but really? I think I just got lazy and wasn't sure what I was going to say, so I didn't say anything at all.

But I am back Bizach!  Too bold?

Well to make up for my lack of posts, here is a picture of Noodles for you!

Riverside Spring

Noodles and I took a walk in Riverside park the other night.  This picture doesn't do the park justice.  It was a beautiful day and the sky was amazing....

I took a break from blogging the last couple weeks, been very busy at work!  Apologies!

Stop Looking at me!

I work in the world of finance... so there isn't a whole lot going on in people's offices.  There tend to be a lot of papers, a plant here or there, but understated overall.  My desk is quite sparse, except for this little corner of my desk where my friends sit.  They stare at me all day and hope I play with them.  The cars take a drive every so often, but the rest of them just hang.  I think I need a plant.

I need my goo on the plane!

I have been running a lot in Central Park, and although I feel safe running, I like to take a lot of crap with me.  I take my license, and debt card, and also my insurance card, a $20 bill and also my cell phone.  It is the cell phone that is the problem.  I can't run with it in my hand... so I need somewhere to put it.  Side note: does it make me weird that I take my insurance card running?

I was so excited when I found this little tiny mini sports belt.  It looks like a tiny fanny pack, which I try to forget about since I have some very bad memories associated with fanny packs, but it is just perfect.  It says it is an "all in one belt for your race day" AWESOME!

So I am clipping away the packaging when the husband takes a look at it and gets a quizzical look on his face.  "I get all of these other pictures, but what's with the plane?"

I have no idea what he is talking about and assume he is referring to something on the TV so I ignore him until he shows me the back of the packaging for the sports pack.   It shows all the logical places you could use said sports pack.... There is a picture of a dude running, one walking, one biking and one that looks like he's got platform shoes on (Husband says that is snow shoeing) but then there is a plane.  Just a plane...

One of these things is not like the others.... I can't stop thinking about why there is a plane on there and have thought hard about writing the company to ask.  Can. Not. Stop. Thinking. About. It!

Any thoughts?  On "race day", as they put it, do you get on a plane?

Ant Airdrops

Do Not Screw with a Wasp (follow this link to article)

Seriously, when these wasps get pissed, they pick you up, carry you away and
drop your butt, if you are an ant.  Sometimes, I wish I could do that.  When people bother me and spray me with acid, I want to pick them up and airdrop them somewhere.  Except no one has sprayed me with acid in a while, so I guess I should just calm down.

Side note: Well, not really since it is directly related to the article about ant airdrops.... the scientists believe that the wasps are air dropping the ants in relation to food supply and competition.  I think a better explanation is anger.  Seriously, if an ant was spraying ACID on you and chomping you and you had wings?  You'd pick their butts up and air drop them out of anger!  Seems pretty simple to me.

Useless post

We made blueberry pancakes this weekend.  You totally wanted to know that, right?

Yes!

According to the flowers in Central Park it is just - almost - kinda - SPRING!  Last night on our walk through Central Park, Noodles and I spied this group of flowers.  I stopped to take a picture while Noodles expertly wrapped her leash around my legs 5 + times in order to help me fall.  I assume she wanted me to get closer to the flowers.....

Growing it out

My hairdresser broke up with me.

Well, that's not really true. She didn't so much as break up with me, but she
is moving and it feels like she is leaving me. Well, that's actually true, she
is leaving me, but my husband says that I shouldn't take it personally, she is
moving out of town for very positive reasons and is leaving all her "clients"
and I just happen to be one of many. Whatever, I still think she is breaking up
with me.

I am very loyal to my hairdressers. I am not sure why. When I was in college I
had been going to this very cool hairdresser in my hometown. He was the kind of
cool hairdresser that would smoke weed with his clients, wait maybe all of them do that, but I didn't know it then… but he was also the kind of hairdresser that would forget he was coloring your hair and go into a panic half way through. One time I was getting a perm. Yes, I LOVED my hair permed and felt that it gave my long skinny face some umph!

Anyway, I was getting a perm by my hairdresser when I think he forgot, he would pop in and out of the salon in between checking on me, and didn't leave me in the solution for
very long, but the entire process took 6 HOURS. Not even kidding. Six hours
later I left with my curly locks. So, when I went off to college a few hours
away, I was beside myself, regardless of his many foibles, I was loyal. I
wasn't sure what to do. I couldn't trust anyone else… so every couple of months
I would drive to my hometown to get my hair done. Sometimes he wouldn't even
remember my appointment, but it didn't matter, I couldn't break up with him!

So, years later I arrive in New York and I go on a search for a hairdresser
because quite frankly I can't fly home to California every few months just for a
trim. After a few attempts I finally find The One. She is awesome… so cool, so
hip and totally gets my hair. I stay with her for years…. I follow her from
salon to salon. I am thrilled when she and her partner open their own salon. I
am loyal. I love my hair and recommend her to everyone I know, even complete
strangers who complement me on my hair. I am thrilled when she and her partner
embark on a personal life together and have beautiful baby twin boys… but
somewhere in the back of my head I know its coming. She is gonna leave me!!

So, I got an email from her the other day confirming my biggest fears. She is
going… taking her wonderful partner (who has also cut and colored my hair over
the years and whom I adore) and they are leaving for a far away land, greener
pastures if you will. And I am sad. Is that weird? Yes, yes it is. But she
has been with me through boyfriends, evil girlfriends, headshots, acting
stories, many changes in career, marriage to the wonderful husband, a move to
Brooklyn, a move back to Manhattan, getting a puppy… all of it. She knows
everything! She says she will come back every few weeks, but I have a sneaking
suspicion that it won't last for the years I would stay with her. So I am
mourning the loss of my hairdresser (a few months before she even leaves) and I
feel slightly crazy for being so sad.

Wish me luck during our breakup, I might need a lot of support, and a trim.

Delish

Yesterday I found this recipe on Dinner a Love Story Blog and thought, well heck, we can make that!  It looked great on Jenny's post, so I printed it out, ran to the store and cooked it up.  I must say, it was great!  It is a sausage, kale and bean stew.  We of course tweeked the receipe a bit, making it a bit more spicy that I think it was intended, but it was great.

Anywhoo.... just thought I'd share our delish dinner.

Side note: Noodles isn't so much a fan of bitter greens.  She loves her veggies, but this wasn't quite her thing!

Warm

Noodles loves this spot on the floor... It is warm there.  I don't know why the floor is so warm in that exact area, in fact the more I think about it the more worried I get... Why is that part of the floor so gosh darn warm?

Anyway, Noodles loves sleeping there when she isn't curled up under covers on our laps.

Please no more....

This picture outside my window gives me bad dreams.  I no longer want to see weather reports for fear of finding out there is going to be more snow!

Thank you boots!

I have lived in NYC for many years now, and have gotten by during the winter with just normal shoes.  A few years back I got some Ugg style boots that kept me warm.  But this winter I have had to break out some new, serious snow boots.  Thankfully they have huge treds and are thick and waterproof since I am walking through 2 foot deep puddles at every street corner.  ugh.

Coming home?

We went on a beautiful walk in South Lake Tahoe... As we walked up to my sisters cabin, we could see Noodles looking out the window... If you look close you can see her in the picture above.

Tahoe Tree

We spent part of the holidays in South Lake Tahoe... it was amazing.  We lost power for just under 24 hours and had so much fun!  This picture was taken while we are on a walk during the power outage.  It was so beautiful there... hard to describe.  Noodles really enjoyed it and she will be posting a few stories of her travels!
