Not in love with my neighborhood

I spent the weekend at home and decided to do a bit of wandering around the new neighborhood. After moving to "Park Slope" in January, the husband and I have been underwhelmed with our new 'hood. As the weeks went on, I kept saying that once the weather got nice, we would really see the slope come alive. Well, it did! I walked around Park Slope all weekend and had a wonderful time. I saw lovely brownstones and kids playing, trees in bloom... just wonderful. And then I walked back home - 20 blocks.... to GREENWOOD HEIGHTS. Although my realtor said we live in Park Slope on the South side... I am pretty sure that after really enjoying the Slope we DO NOT LIVE THERE. sigh...

Amazing Weekend

My husband did his first Half Ironman this last weekend. He completed 70.3 miles of swimming, biking and running at the Avia Wildflower. We went out to Paso Robles California with Team in Training on Friday, May 1st and camped with the New York Chapter. It was pretty amazing. TNT shipped his bike out the week before and then we followed with about 40 other New Yorkers participating in either the 70.3 or the Olympic distance triathlon.

We arrived on Friday late afternoon and it was raining! We had to set up our tent in the rain while all of our carefully packed items were getting wet. We just bought our wonderful tent, but had not yet attempted to put it up, so needless to say, it was quite a site.

We finally got the tent up and everything inside when Chris went down to the water with the coaches to do a practice swim. I stuck around camp to finish setting us up. After the swim we went to the big TNT kick off dinner in the big tent. There were hundereds and hundreds of people all from TNT all over the country there.

After hardly sleeping (the ground was hard and we were on an incline!) We woke up at 5am and started to get Chris ready for his race.

After a lot of standing around and waiting, I finally saw his wave go off at 8:40am! I got to see him come up out of the water and then transition onto his bike... off he went for 56 miles. I went back up to camp to shower and change while the sun beat down on his back... giving him the beginning of a nasty burn.

I stayed up at camp and watched him run by after he transitioned from the bike to the run. I was at mile 7 and he looked strong!

After he ran past, I gathered my stuff and took the LONG hike down the mountain to meet him at the finish line. 7 1/2 hours had gone by since he started, and I was exhauseted... I couldn't imagine how he felt!

It was such an amazing expereience and I am so proud of him. I will blog more about it later as there are many stories to tell!

I just wanted a Cheeseburger

Today, I thought I'd save some money and go to Burger King for lunch. This is the only cheap option in 30 Rock and the only fast food option in a quick walk. So, I go and quickly notice that there is an angry gentleman at the counter - concerned about a whopper, but I don't pay attention and wait my turn.

I get up to the counter to order my cheeseburger and onion rings, and this is what transpires.

me: I'd like a cheeseburger please
register girl: we don't have burgers
me: huh? but aren't you the "burger king"?
register girl: no hamburgers...
me: at all?
register girl: you can have a whopper
me: but isn't a whopper a burger?
register girl: we don't have no burgers!
me: ok, can I have a whopper with cheese, but just with pickles and ketchup... you know, like your cheeseburger?
register girl: sure
me: huh.....ok, gimme that. How much?
register girl: $3.99
me: huh... the cheeseburger is only $1.00... interesting

So, I pay and take my whopper sans the ingredients. I am not sure if the management at this particular Burger King just forgot to order the smaller cheeseburger sized patties, or if the management is smart and just took my $2.99

Either way, I got a burger.... even if the girl at the counter didn't believe she had any...

Joey - Easter Egg Hunt

Sadly, she didn't find any eggs... but I don't think she was looking very hard.

Back from NOLA

This is a shot from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. I am not sure why I like this picture so much, but I do. I like the color of the coffee and the sugar I guess... but it also just reminds me of how nice our trip was overall. It rained every night and in fact was quite stormy, and it was chilly, and people on Bourbon street are stupid, but we just enjoyed being around eachother, which I guess is the sign of a great vacation.

Since coming back form NOLA I have decided that I am really going to try to keep writing on this blog.... I really feel like I am sinking into a non-creative life style now that I am not actively acting or singing, and I really need to find other ways to express myself... so here you go blog world!
