I had Chinese food for lunch...

Here is my fortune:

"You are filled with life's most precious treasure... Hope!"

I need a little hope right now, so I have taped the little slip of paper with my fortune on it to my computer. I am sending out good vibes to the universe... I am asking the universe to respond with a resounding "YES"

More to come on this subject later.

'Tis the Season

Holiday stress.... we all have it right? I feel like my stress level has increased this week, and after listing for myself what I was stressed about I realized that yes, in fact, I have reason to be stressed. I shall share...

1) Father-in-law scheduled to have major surgery on the Friday before Christmas
2) Older sister scheduled to have minor surgery on the Friday before Christmas
3) Father is "calling off Christmas"
4) The amount of money in my account does not accommodate shopping
5) Waiting to hear about getting a new apartment... Will we qualify for this cool apartment?
6) General family drama
7) Having to give the small dog back to her rightful owner
8) More family drama
9) I'm not sure what number 9 is, but it is stressful
10) General work stress... when are they going to find out I don't know what I am doing! hehe

I am not usually this stressed about the Holidays, but this year is extra special.

My Morning Commute...

At 8:46 I exit the subway station and join the massive herd of people trying to cross the street. I hear splashing and since it isn't raining, I look to see what the sound is.

There is a man a few feet away from me standing on the curb with a Coke can in his hand. He is pouring the contents out into the gutter. I am confused, so I continue watching. Why would this man pour out what appears to be a perfectly good can of Coke?

After emptying the can, he opens up his bag and pulls out a can of Coors... He then proceeds to pour the contents of the can of Coors into the empty can of Coke. When he finished this difficult, but practiced move (the beer is foamy) he takes a quick drink and is on his way across the street with the rest of us.

Huh?

I have so many questions. All of which are not important since my attention is quickly captured by a man on the other side of the street screaming at the top of his lungs "JEEESSSUUUSSS" over and over.

Off to work I go!

My Favorite Sarah Palin quote

"My concern has been the atrocities there in Darfur and the relevance to me with that issue as we spoke about Africa and some of the countries there that were kind of the people succumbing to the dictators and the corruption of some collapsed governments on the continent, the relevance was Alaska’s investment in Darfur with some of our permanent fund dollars."

I wonder if her English Teacher has anything to say in her defense?

I am free!!!

I quit my job on Monday... I can't believe I finally did it. So far the resignation has gone very smooth, expect for my boss, who is evil, but what did I expect? I left the job because she was evil. Silly me for expecting anything less! My last day is on the 24th of August, now just a short 7 workdays away!

More to come....

Drinks in the park with J-Poochers

We have to hide in a bag to exit the apartment since our landlord has given the big 'ole NO to having a dog... Joey seems fine hiding and even liked the bag! We took a nice long walk to the park and went to the cafe at 105th where we had a nice cold Corona and lunch.

Joey and I miss The Amazing Husband... but are enjoying our time together while her pops is in California.

Troubling trend

Dear Lola Miceymouse,

I imagine you had a hard night last night. Keeping a night job while trying to raise 12 little ones must be hard. Having to ingratiate yourself to your co-workers over a nice juicy slab of butter must have been difficult, I know 'cause I heard the arguing. The intense physical and mental demands on you to "bring home the bacon" must be overwhelming.

I am clearly sympathetic to your plight... but I must ask, and I know this will put a damper on your nightly objective, but please, please keep your career goals tightly focused in the kitchen. I must insist that you leave the bedroom alone. Ideally, I would love for you to find a new work place altogether and I will do everything in my power to diminish any positive reinforcement that you might get from my "company" (aka: my home).

I really hope this ends our correspondence and that you take into consideration my needs (mainly to sleep soundly knowing that I am safe from your scavenge). If this note does not sway you, I must inform you that I will be forced to take stronger action.

Thank you for your expedience with this troubling trend.

Regards,

Human who lives in the house

I need a Vacation

well, it is official... I need a vacation.

Although I woke up in a good mood, it was quickly dashed. I got a seat on the train, which was pretty amazing. So I sat down and started to read my AM New York paper... The train was busy, so of course there was a person standing right in front of me. As we were bouncing along the track I suddenly felt something wet on my knee... I looked up to find an oblivious man holding a paper cup of coffee over me! Each time the train lurched forward, a bit of it spilled over and landed on me!!!! I quickly covered my legs with my morning newspaper and looked up at him....
I snapped "NO, You did NOT just spill your coffee on me!!" no answer from coffee dude.... "MOVE, get out, MOVE away from me before I loose it!! Get your coffee away from me!! I have a JOB interview today!!!" at this point, he doesn't say anything, but the train people start to adjust and where there wasn't space berfore, now there was, and he moved away from me....

Shortly after that we stopped at 42nd and I got out...

Lessons I have learned:
1. Coffee in a crowed train, in a paper cup, while standing over someone is a bad idea.
2. If you act a bit crazy in public, people aren't quite sure what to do... and they move away from you...
3. I need some rest and relaxation.

Moving

We have reason to celebrate! My man and I have moved in together! And by that I mean we, acting like pack mules, moved all of our possessions, on our backs, into our new place! Ironically, we are too exhausted to do any celebrating... At most, we are sitting together like zombies, smiling at each other periodically. And since the move on Saturday, my legs hurt so bad, I am unable to walk up and down stairs without looking like a complete moron.

Why do my legs hurt so badly? Some would argue that I need to work out and use those muscles more regularly. I prefer to believe that sometime during the move, I was bitten by a rare spider (no fault of my own) and the venom has rendered my legs useless.

Anyway, the apartment is coming together wonderfully despite my lack of mobility. I will post a picture as soon as I can.

We have a few friends to thank for the successful move, but since I am now sounding like I won some sort of crazy moving award… I will just say ‘thanks’ to those folks. They know who they are…

Narnia Rap Battle

I really enjoyed the SNL Chronic of Narnia video. If you haven't seen it, please do! Once you check that out, then you've gotta go to the west coast version. Adam Stein, Sam Friedlander, and Mark Feuerstein (of "Good Morning Miami," "In Her Shoes," and "The West Wing") have created "lazy monday," which they're calling "the West Coast response to SNL's 'Chronic of Narnia' rap." It's awesome.

My Morning Commute

So, I am on the subway this morning, packed in like a sardine when the man next to me says, "Ummm, hello".

He is dressed in a suit and is probably in his mid to late 30's. He flashes me his wedding band and says, "I am married, and I am not trying to pick up on you...." by this time he has the attention of everyone in a 2 foot radius... "but I think you smell amazing, and I was wondering what it was 'cause I want to get it for my wife" (the woman next to me, who I would be spooning if we were laying down, starts to chuckle).

I begin to stammer a bit, since I am caught off guard and say "uh, well uh... it's ah... Origins... I mean, but it's not just perfume, it is the combo of Grapefruit lotion, and Ginger perfume".

He says "Thanks".

Then another man about 2 people away from me spits out, "Wait wait wait... what was that? Ginger what? Where d'ya git it?"

So I repeat what I had just said... and then get a "thanks" from about 4 other people.

odd morning....

ahhh, back at Alcatraz...

Maddie at the pumpkin patch!

Here is my sister's dog Maddie at the pumpkin patch. Can anyone guess what she dressed up as this year? Last year she was a pumpkin, but this year she wanted to scare her friends!

So, to answer the question I know you are thinking. Yes, my sister is as crazy as I am...
